ACL Earns One-Star FIA Environmental Accreditation

Published on 28/05/2025

A First Step Toward a More Sustainable Future

The Automobile Club of Luxembourg (ACL) has been awarded the one-star environmental accreditation by the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), the global governing body for motorsport and mobility. This recognition marks the beginning of a structured commitment to sustainable development within the Club.

This initial step confirms the implementation of fundamental policies and procedures aimed at integrating sustainability into ACL’s operations. The objective is clear: to continuously improve environmental performance and strengthen the Club’s positive impact on mobility in Luxembourg.

For example, the ACL has already made tangible progress, particularly in terms of energy consumption. In 2023, the Club achieved a significant reduction in its energy footprint:

  • 20,000 kWh reduction in total energy consumption
  • 5.82% reduction in electricity usage
  • 10.32% reduction in fuel consumption

This accreditation is an important signal and a strong encouragement to continue our efforts toward more environmentally respectful operations,” said Miriam Eisenmenger, CEO of ACL. “As a key player in the field of mobility, we have a responsibility to actively contribute to a sustainable transition.”

The FIA Environmental Accreditation Programme assesses organisations across 17 criteria, including energy management, carbon emissions, transport planning, and sustainable procurement. Audits are conducted by independent experts to ensure the objectivity of the evaluation process.

ACL is committed to building on this momentum and aiming for higher levels of FIA certification, aligning its actions with the most demanding environmental standards.

About the FIA Environmental Accreditation Programme

Launched in 2011, this programme supports stakeholders in motorsport and mobility in evaluating and improving their environmental practices. It is based on a rigorous, three-tier rating system (from one to three stars), with assessments conducted through independent audits. Of the approximately 250 FIA-affiliated organisations, 66 currently hold environmental accreditation.
